About Vertical Combustibility Tester

2024-06-07 09:42:31

Vertical Combustibility Testeris suitable for testing the flammability of various types of textiles.

  • Fabric Vertical Combustibility Test Equipment is suitable for measuring the burning time of textile fabrics with fluff on the surface (such as pile, loop, tuft or similar surfaces);
  • The test results can only be used to evaluate the combustion performance of materials or combined materials under laboratory control conditions. The test results are not applicable to situations where oxygen is insufficient or where the materials are heated for too long in a fire.
  • Vertical Flammability Tester is suitable for testing the ignitability of various single-layer or multi-layer (such as coating, quilting, interlayer and similar combinations) fabrics in the vertical direction;
  • Vertical Fram Test Machine is suitable for measuring the vertical flame spread performance of textiles for single-component or multi-component (coating, quilting, multi-layer, interlayer products and similar combinations) clothing, curtains and drapes, and large tents including awnings and door covers.

Principle:

Install the finished product sample or material sample on the corresponding fixture of this instrument, burn the vertically placed sample with a flame of the required height for a certain period of time, and record the relevant data (such as burning time, burning rate) to evaluate its combustion performance.

The following definitions are used in this test:

  • Flammability: The ability of a material or product to ignite and burn under specified test conditions;
  • Afterflame: The continued flaming of a material after the ignition source is removed under specified test conditions;
  • Afterflame time, flame spread time: The time the material continues to burn with a flame after the ignition source is removed under specified test conditions;
  • Ignition time: The time the flame of the ignition source is applied to the specimen;
  • Ignition: The start of combustion;
  • Smoldering: The continued flameless burning of a material after flaming has ceased, or if no flame is generated, the ignition source is removed under specified test conditions;
  • Smoldering time: The time the material continues to burn without a flame after flaming has ceased, or if no flame is generated, the ignition source is removed under specified test conditions.
